Summer Hotshots Rules
Nooo Monkey Business
~ Follow the Rules ~
General
-
There are no team captains. Each lady signs up individually for the round robins she would like to join.
-
Each round robin includes 6 games. Usually, we have 8, 12, 16 or 20 ladies, so nobody is ever on a bye.
-
Ladies who would like to join a round robin must submit the updated waiver (on the home page of this website) and wait for approval. Approval depends on how busy the courts are and on our ability to verify that you are a 3.5 or 4.0 player.
-
Once you have signed the waiver and been approved, we will text the TeamReach codes to you so you may start adding yourself to round robins. TeamReach is a free app for your phone.
-
If you have not signed the waiver, you may not play.
-
Ladies who are 3.5 to 3.9 may play only in the 3.5 round robins.
-
Ladies who are 4.0 + may play in the 3.5 and/or 4.0 round robins.
-
Please sign up for only one round robin (at any level) per day.
Signing Up in Team Reach
-
Download the TeamReach app to your phone. It is red with a white logo. The logo is a frontward "r" and backward "r."
-
When you add your name to TeamReach, please add your phone number with it.
-
Click on the calendar icon. Then click on the date / time / location that you would like to play.
-
If there is an available spot, click YES.
-
You may cancel (change from YES to NO) up to 24 hours before a round robin. If you cancel after that, we will remove you from all round robins for three weeks.
-
If there is not an available spot, click WAIT to be put on the waiting list.
-
If you find yoursef on a waiting list (even a long list):
-
We suggest that you stay on it for a while. We often add courts, and sometimes ladies cancel, so you could easily end up playing.
-
Check back often to see whether you have been moved up to YES which means you are playing.
-
If you are still on the waiting list, and you are no longer available to play, change yourself from WAIT to NO. If you leave your name on WAIT, we will assume you are available right up until game time.
-
- We will remove you from all round robins for 3 weeks if you:
-
Cancel a YES answer within 24 hours of game time
-
Are a YES but don't show up
-
Get moved from WAIT to YES, which means you should be playing, but then you don't show up
-
Show up 10+ minutes late
-
-
We may move your name from YES to waiting (or we may move you around on a waiting list) for management reasons. For example, if a neighborhood requires at least two residents per court, we may need to make adjustments. We will try hard to avoid this and let you know when it happens.
Rules of Play
-
The round robins are set up in advance and at random. No trading around.
-
The serving pair is listed on top.
-
Each neighborhood has a consistent serving side. Use that.
-
Play traditional pickleball with traditional scoring until 11 points.
-
Win by 1. Stop when one pair gets to 11 points.
-
We do not use rally scoring to hurry up a game.
-
Players may call any number of 20-second breaks to drink water and/or wipe off.
-
We allow time-outs only for injuries, potential heat exhaustion, etc.
-
When all courts are finished and all scores are recorded, let the last group that finished have a few minutes to rest before the next games.
-
We follow the USAPA official rules: https://usapickleball.org/rules/. If those rules conflict with the Estero Sisters’ rules, go with the Sisters.
-
Partners may talk to each other anytime, including during games. Nobody else may talk, coach or give advice during a game. This includes monkey-butt comments such as "Way to hit to her backhand," "Good job dinking," and "Do that again next time."
-
Have fun!
Scoring
-
After each game, each player records her score on the scoresheet. For example, the two winners will each write 11, and the two losers will each write 5 (or however many points they scored). If you were on a bye, write "bye."
-
If you don't have enough players, and someone recruits a pal, that person must visit our website and sign the waiver.
-
If you use a pal who does not usually play with us and/or is much better or worse than us, give everyone who plays in those specific games byes on the scoresheet.
-
After each round robin, Estero Sisters will tally and publish each player's personal average. For example, if a player scores 9, 9, 10, 10, 11, and 11 points, her personal average will be 10. For another example, if a player scores 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and bye, her average will be 6. (There is no penalty for the bye.)
-
The best score a lady can get for one entire round robin is 11 points for every game. That would be 66 points for 6 games or 55 points for 5 games (if she had one bye). So her personal average would be 11.
-
Once a lady has played in 3 or more round robins, Estero Sisters will tally and publish her personal RUNNING average. For example, if a lady averages 8 points during one round robin, 7.5 points during a second round robin and 7 points during a third round robin, her personal running average would be 7.5.
-
If you are a 4.0 player who plays in both the 3.5 leauge and the 4.0 league, you will have a separate personal running average for each league.
-
To place among the Top Ten 3.5 Personal Running Averages, a lady must have played at least 3 round robins. Same with 4.0.
-
Each week, we update the neighborhood scores for each league (3.5 and 4.0). Your neighborhood is where you live. For example, if five 3.5 ladies from WildBlue have personal running averages of 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, the 3.5 WildBlue neighborhood score is 7.
-
To qualify for a Top Neighborhood score, the neighborhood must have at least 3 players who have played at least 3 round robins.
-
Let's get out there and play!
